Much of Texas is hot and arid. If you live in Western Texas, this is especially true. Thus, conserving water can be an important part of your gardening experience. Xeriscaping involves using water wise plants and technologies such as drip irrigation to create a landscape that will thrive, even under extreme heat and dry conditions. Additionally, collecting rainwater in rain barrels is a great way to conserve water for your arid Texas garden.

Hi- I just planted a standing cypress plant and the first night it was out, something did something to it, bending over its stalk. It wasn’t a rea stalk yet, as it’s only 5-6″ high. But anyway, it’s bent over-can’t straighten up- a bit pinched in one place. Should I clip it back? Will a new stalk grow? Or is it too late- will I have to wait for next year?
