Much of East Texas is made up of the Piney Woods Eco-zone. Gardening conditions for East Texas also can apply to the Houston metropolitan area. In comparison to arid Western Texas, this region has a moist sub-tropical climate. Here, you’ll find rolling grassy plains and forests as well. East Texas is a great place to grow a variety of plants. Here, you won’t have to worry as much about using low water use plants. This area of Texas is a great place to grow crepe myrtles, hostas, peaches, berries, and even citrus trees.
